Saturday Night Fever

Over the summer in Phoenix it's really hard to go out and take pictures when it's 6000 degrees outside. Besides, I heard from a friend that pixels melt at 397 degrees. He could be wrong; he shoots with Nikon.

Last week I shot some images that were described by Nadine, my designer, as "The Burning Man of Bikes." Yeah, it was a lot of fun.

Today there was a Western style festival that I could have gone to — or I could have gone to the State Fair. I chose None of the Above and after dinner went to Mill Avenue. I challenged myself by shooting only with available light. No flash. No tripod. All fun.

I encourage you to see my pictures by going here.

Tony, love the image you have on the front page (the one of the dog at what I am assuming is the light rail stop).

It's great to see Tempe -- things change things stay the same. My only question is ... where are the people?

Tracy -- Great question -- and thank you for asking...

The people aren't on the Light Rail yet...and maybe that's the point.

The train's don't yet run, but I thought I should sneak in to photograph "Diamond" (tell Andy that Chili is playing "fetch" with Jesus (the deity, not the landscaper)).

In that series, I wanted to photograph (just for myself) an evening on Mill and the craziness -- as well as the Twilight Zone moments.

One of my favorite images is of the guitar player at the Valley Art Theater. It appears he was standing on a Star, yet he was clearly NOT standing on it. And for a musician, he certainly wasn't in the spotlight.

I love the metaphors of that image. Go look and let me know if you agree.
